Rhodes to ruins

The acropolis of Lindos may be only the second-most famous ancient Greek marvel to grace the isle of Rhodes, but it has the advantage of still existing. Unlike the Colossus of Rhodes – a Wonder of the Ancient World raised here in 280 BCE, only for an earthquake to topple it in just half a century – much of the ruined acropolis remains standing. That includes structures predating the Colossus, like the columns of the Temple of Athena Lindia seen here.
